Barry M Liquid Chrome ~ Razzle Dazzle

Hello!

First, a little diary entry. Throughout my blogging journey I've been open about suffering badly with depression. I'm unwell all the time but I get periods where it's difficult to keep up my hobbies, and I've just had one over the Christmas season. Despite this I had a lovely Christmas, and I have just spent the afternoon painting my nails and dipping into some review items sent to me. I'm feeling positive that things might be getting better and that there are lots of lovely manicures on the horizon!

Now onto the nail polish! I wanted to treat myself with my Christmas money, so I had a look at what Barry M had to offer in Boots! I ended up buying a replacement base coat and white polish (Cotton) and I couldn't resist the metallic pink glimmer of Razzle Dazzle. Here are two coats:

I love this colour so much! I had to be careful to paint the second coat on nice and straight, but I was pleased with how non-streaky the finish was.

I hope to be back very soon with more manicures ^_^

Barry M ~ Cashmere and Frost

Hello!

I noticed that Barry M had a few new shades in my local Boots store, so I treated myself to a couple!

Cashmere is a gorgeous pale pink. Here are two coats:

Frost is a lovely frosted white. Here are three coats:

I like both but Cashmere is definitely my favourite - I'm sure I'll be wearing it a lot! Which do you prefer?

Cloudy Skies and Summers Day Manicures!

It's been oscillating between cloudy and sunny here in the North East, so I've done two manicures to suit both! A "cloudy skies" look and a super-bright neon.

I used clingfilm to get the effect for my cloudy skies mani! I started by painting my nails with Barry M Earl Grey and letting them dry completely. I then painted a coat of white on top and, while it was still wet, I dabbed at it with scrunched-up clingfilm. This was the result:

For my neon mani I used Bubblegum by Models Own with matte top coat. This is such a bright polish that it's impossible to capture 100% in a photograph, but I tried my best:

Feathers Manicure

Hello!

This manicure combines nail art with temporary tattoos, something I haven't really done in a while!

I was digging through my box of water decals and found some lovely sheets of feather decals (I think I bought them from Born Pretty Store), so I chose a sheet and applied the different colours over Barry M Pearl with an added layer of opalescent polish. I then took a couple of my MoYou hand tattoos and applied them to my ring finger and palm!

I love the idea of complementing nail art with skin art, and I've asked for some more tattoos for my birthday ^_^

Floral Inspiration ~ Nail Machine

Today's manicure was inspired by Nail Machine on Instagram! Her mani was a hand-painted blue rose pattern with a gold-lined accent nail - just my style, and absolutely gorgeous.

I have found out through many attempts that, unfortunately, painting designs by hand with nail art brushes just isn't my talent. It always ends up looking thick and clumsy! Luckily I have many stamping plates with designs to compensate for this, and my MoYou Pro 17 plate had a rose pattern that would do the trick.

I started with the gold accent on my ring fingernail: using French tip guide stickers and Chrome Olive by Models Own I painted a thin, curved line. Then above that line and on the whole of my other nails I used an off-white, Cream Soda by Barry M, as my base colour. I then used my MoYou stamping mat to make decals, stamping the rose pattern in Cream Soda and colouring it in with three shades of blue.

Cream Soda isn't quite opaque so the roses ended up pretty undefined, but I am still happy with the floral look I ended up with. Apologies for the poor lighting - I'm still very tired all the time so it's been difficult to take photos at the ideal time of day.

Charlies Nail Art ~ Treble Clef Decals

Today I have an item from Charlies Nail Art to show you: treble clef nail decals! Part of being an ambassador means I get to try out nail products that I haven't tried before, and these kinds of decals are one of them.

The treble clefs are small, wafer-thin plastic motifs which are copper-coloured on one side and black on the other; you can choose which colour you'd like to show on your nails. I used them by first painting my nails - with Barry M Pearl, in this case - then applying the decals with tweezers onto a layer of wet top coat. I used both points of the tweezers to keep the decal pushed down as the polish dried. I then added more top coat to seal them in!

What I've found trying these decals for the first time is that they're fun to use and (at least I think!) they look good on the nail. I especially liked this treble clef design. A disadvantage is that they can be hard to keep flat, and I ended up getting a little polish over the decals as I pushed them down. I would try them again.

Bird & Blossom Manicure

Hello!

Today I am wearing some gorgeous pink blossom water decals with a bird on the index nail! The decals were sent to me as an extra gift in a review pack from Born Pretty Store.

To give the decals more depth I decided to apply them over a soft gradient of white to light pink. The polishes I used were Barry Ms Cotton and Rose Hip. You can just about see the gradient in the finished design ^_^

I adore patterns like these - clean, soft and feminine!

Lace & Butterfly Manicure

Hello!

Today I had the idea to do a design that I've already done in black - it's a bordered lace manicure!

For this white version I started off with a coat off the sheer French polish Essie Mademoiselle. I then stamped on some lace using my BP02 Chic Lace stamping plate from Born Pretty Store. To do the border I used my white Barry M nail art pen to carefully outline my nails. After adding top coat I decided a lovely finishing touch would be a white butterfly charm which I bought from Charlies Nail Art, adhered with nail glue. It's silly, I wasn't even intending to use a Charlies product today - but it worked its way in there!

And, for comparison, here is the black version I did a while ago:

I actually much prefer the white, but what do you think?

Barry M ~ Frosted Cupcakes

Hello!

Barry M have released a new mini collection of nail polishes called Frosted Cupcakes! What ties them together is delicate colouring with flecks of shimmering glitter. Boots currently have a "2 for £6" deal on Barry M so I bought two shades to show you: Strawberries and Cream, and Earl Grey. My photos show two coats of polish with top coat in natural daylight.

I hope you can see the effect clearly enough! I love these polishes, especially the pale pink Strawberries and Cream. There are two other shades in the collection and I am tempted to go back and buy them!

With their "Frosted Cupcake" effect they remind me very much of the more expensive and much coveted Illamasqua Raindrops - do you agree?

European Postcard Manicure

Today I'm wearing water decals from Charlies Nail Art! They're a vintage postcard design of European landmarks: the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I applied them over one coat of Barry M Cream Soda...

I am so so happy with them ^_^ They are just my style - and they were only 89p!

Lace and Studs Manicure

Hello!

I'm back to show you a lacy manicure with a Halloween edge!

I started off with two coats of a French sheer, Mademoiselle by Essie. Next I took my Born Pretty Store L020 stamping plate and stamped on a floral lace design in black. I then used my Barry M black nail art pen to draw a border around each nail to accentuate the manicure. I finished off with some silver metal studs from Charlies Nail Art. And everything was kept in place with Sèche Vite!

I really hope you like this look - I was quite pleased with how it turned out!

Dozy Owl Manicure!

In my water decal collection I have a few sheets of YRNails owls that always look cute on short nails! I chose the purple dozy owls since I'm a dozy sleepy Lisa, and I applied them over Barry M Cotton.

Blue Floral Foil Manicure

Hello!

I am very excited because yesterday I received my latest order from Charlies Nail Art in the post, and today I received a new review pack of nail polishes to try! That's a lot to keep me busy and my nails decorated.

Right now I am wearing a nail foil from my Charlies order! It cost 39p for the sheet and it's a blue floral pattern with shining silver accents. I applied it over a dark blue, Blackberry by Barry M. Here it is...

It looks really pretty and professional on my nails; I'm very happy. I had to take the photo in my kitchen doorway though because it was raining so heavily!

Cold Comforts Manicure

Hello!

Today's mani was inspired by the steadily cooling, darkening days! I wanted to represent reading a book whilst sipping a Starbucks and wearing a woolly jumper, all on my nails. So I got out some of my MoYou stamping plates!

For the thumb I did a chalkboard coffee shop menu, stamping on the menu design from plate Cook Book 04 over black nail polish and using a matte top coat. For the index, middle and pinky nails I painted on a textured pink polish, Kingsland Road by Barry M, then used plate Fashionista 03 to add a knit pattern in silver (for a festive jumper!). And for the ring fingernail I stamped some text from plate Literature 01 over a cream colour. For a finishing touch I stamped a light coffee stain on top!

I'm sleeping a lot right now so it's hard for me to get out and take photos of my nails in the few hours of daylight that we have - I'm wearing a mani that's needed photographing for 2 days now! But I will be back on Friday with a post, I promise ^_^

Creepy Tree Branches Manicure

I got into the Halloween spirit for Wednesday's manicure, and today I'm back with more spooky nail art! This one uses clingfilm and stamping to create a horror film style tree.

To start off I painted my nails a pearly white, Pearl by Barry M. Then I painted on a grey, Enigmatic by MeMeMe, and used the clingfilm technique to dab away and end up with an ominous, stormy sky look. I added top coat before stamping on top the bare tree from Born Pretty Store's BP-L015 stamping plate!

I'm really pleased with the end result! You can mix it up by choosing different colours for the background - I've also used purple before.

Green Halloween Skittles Manicure

Hello!

We seem to begin celebrating Halloween earlier and earlier every year - I'm sure as a child in England we had the one day and that was it! Normally I don't dive into the premature celebrations, but I had an idea for a manicure and had to get it on my nails.

Barry M Meadow is supposed to be a Spring polish but I thought it looked just Frankenstein-y enough to act as a good base for this manicure! It also has a nice little shimmer to it. For the nail art I painted Illamasqua Swarm onto my ring finger, a black glitter mix which is a recent TKMaxx purchase of mine. On my middle finger I stamped a half-moon lace pattern from Born Pretty stamping plate 02. On my pinky finger I stamped a cross from MoYou stamping plate Gothic 06. From the same plate I stamped a little edging onto my index finger, which I topped with some shimmering black rhinestones from Charlies Nail Art.

This is the result!

I was quite pleased with this! I used to be a goth but nowadays it's quite unusual for me to wear this style. It was a little refreshing ^_^

Two Fuzzy Knit Manicures!

Hello!

Today's manicures feature one of my favourite nail art ideas to wear: knitted sweater nails! I wore the first one earlier in the week, and I liked it so much that I decided to create another one.

For the first mani I took a polish that I didn't really like when I first bought it, the textured pink Kingsland Road by Barry M, and used it as the base for something I knew I'd like ^_^ I stamped on a knit pattern in white using MoYou stamping plate Fashionista 03. This is the result!

For the second manicure I took my mini bottle of OPI Solitaire, a sparkling white textured polish that reminds me of crunchy snow. The bottle is definitely running out which is sad, because it's a perfect polish for Winter too. On top of Solitaire I stamped the sweater pattern from Nail Craze stamping plate NC03 using MeMeMe's Enigmatic. For fun I added a Hand Tattoo from MoYou! Here we are..

Both manis are warm and fuzzy and they genuinely look like textiles to me, which is what makes sweater manis so fun to wear!

Moonlight Leaves Manicure

Firstly, can I please ask my readers a question? Does it make a difference to you whether a blogger posts to a schedule or just writes whenever inspiration strikes them? Would Geordie Nails be more readable if I posted at the same time, say, every Wednesday and Sunday (with maybe a bonus post sometimes)? If you could let me know in a comment that'd be brilliant! xx

Onto the manicure, which continues my run of autumnal nails! I bought a sheet of silver leaves nail foil from Charlies Nail Art and applied it over Barry M Indigo...

I really liked the colours on this ^_^ I think I need a new nail foil glue because it didn't stick properly in parts - luckily it maybe even helped the mani because it added a bit of authenticity to the leaves!!!

Geordie Nails Autumn Week ~ Sparkling Golds

Hello!

I've been posting photos of my Autumn-inspiring nail polishes all week both on the blog and on Instagram! I haven't quite written about them all here due to tiredness but today I have two manicures to show featuring sparkling autumnal golds.

The first polish is a Limited Edition Barry M for Superdrug! I can't find its name but it must have been released either last Autumn or the one before. It is a bar glitter featuring shades of gold and copper; I don't normally buy bar glitter but this one reminds me of fireworks and fallen leaves simultaneously and it's just perfect for the season. Here is one coat over the deep wine shade Victoria by Nails Inc, also a perfect autumnal polish:

The second polish is a textured glitter by Seventeen at Boots, called Charm Bracelet. It has a vintage feel to it - champagne gold with darker glitter pieces thrown in - and it's absolutely gorgeous in my eyes:

I've now got some Autumn nail art in mind so hopefully I'll be back soon with piccies!

Literature French Manicure

Hello!

Thank you to everyone who has entered my 4 Year Blogiversary Giveaway so far, and to everyone else, do feel welcome to enter to win a MoYou gift card! I've included a couple of simple entry options which don't involve doing anything on social media so hopefully it's a super-friendly giveaway.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to promote it as much as I'd like so far - I'm in a bad patch with my health and am asleep more than I'm awake right now - but I'm very happy with how it's going regardless ^_^

This manicure uses my MoYou Literature 01 stamping plate to add something special to a French mani! I used my Charlies Nail Art guide stickers and Barry M Cotton to paint on the French tips. Once they dried I stamped a variety of texts on top, again using the guide stickers to get it right.
