So, Miss Sporty Peel Off Base Coat...

I think this is PVA glue.

It looks like PVA glue.

It smells like PVA glue.

It applies like PVA glue.

It works like PVA glue.

It doesn't have any ingredients listed, which I'm fairly sure is legally required for nail polish.

I think I paid £2.29 for an 8ml bottle of PVA glue.

Miss Sporty ~ 304

Hello!

Today we have polish number 304 by Miss Sporty (I wish they had names on the bottle!), bought for 99p from my local cosmetics stall. 304 is a very bright creme, red verging on the edge of pink I would say. It wasn't the smoothest of applications but I only needed 2 coats for a very standout colour. I then accented both my ring fingers with the lovely trailing flower pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM318. Here it is!

Simple but bold!

Mini Haul!

Hello!

For a while now I've been on a strict no-buy, having decided that I absolutely do not need to buy any more nail polish ever, no matter how enticing it may be, as I have enough in my collection to give manicures to a small country. But I've been feeling a bit rubbish so decided to have a wander up to my local cosmetics stall in Eldon Square to see if there were any bargains to be had!

The top row of polishes came to a grand total of £8.95. First is Lavender Cloud by Sally Hansen, because I am an absolute sucker for creamy shades! Second is Nude Shimmer, also by Sally Hansen. This looks so, so pretty and I was very happy to find it ~ the "Diamond Strength" polishes that end up on the stall tend to be more old-fashioned. Third is White on White by Revlon, because I'm always using white polishes till they go gloopy on me. Fourth is an unnamed polish by Miss Sporty ~ on the stall it looked a shocking pink but in the light of my bedroom it seems to lean towards orange! And finally, we have Pink Pearl by W7. I don't know if I'll be disappointed by this one, but it looks like it might be incredible layered over a solid pink. We shall see!

The top coats were from Superdrug and considerably more expensive! I've lost my original matte top coat by Rimmel in the landfill of my bedroom, so had to shell out for another. As for the No Chip, I'm still looking for my perfect top coat! I want a wide brush, not too thick polish, no tipwear and doesn't smudge my stamping. Let's see if good old Sally Hansen has the answer :-)

I know I've kept posting saying I'll try to blog more, it's been really hard. I'm going through a terrible time with my depression. But this time I am promising to try on the above polishes and show them to you!

Miss Sporty Sparkle Touch

Hello!

Today I am showing you a present from my lovely fiancé!  Miss Sporty's Sparkle Touch is a top coat glitter consisting of small silver/holo glitter and larger blue and silver glitter.  I decided to try 2 coats over a pastel pink (17's Sweet Kisses), and am very glad I did because I absolutely love it!

I really, really never meant for this to happen...

...

...I fainted, OK?!  I had to have tests done at the hospital, I fainted during them, and afterwards, instead of following Mr Doctor's advice and getting a taxi straight home to rest up, I thought "Ooh, I need some fruit, and I'll have a look around the shops while I'm at it!".

So in my giddy state I took advantage of Boot's '2 Revlons for £10' and '£1 off 2 Barry M polishes' offers, my cheapy market stall, and Poundland (They had some really good Revlons in there for a quid!  Key word: 'had'.  I have them now.).

Forgive me ô God of Overdrafts, I was poorly.

Accent Thumbs!

Hello!

My usual go-to accent nail is my engagement ring finger, so I decided to do my thumbs this time!  The thumbs are Miss Sporty's Hip Pop and the fingers are 17's Sweet Kisses, and they're all topped with Barry M's Pink Iridescent glitter.  I hate having to photograph glitters with flash because it doesn't show them off too well, but especially over Hip Pop it looked fantastic.

Polish-aholics Anonymous Monday Nail Art Challenge!

Hello!

This is my first ever Challenge, and after seeing the nail art coming through in the Polish-aholics Anonymous Facebook group I realise that I seriously need to up my game next week!

The theme is TV-, book- or movie-inspired nails.  My first thought was to think of something to represent House, as that is one of my favourite programs ever... but then I remembered the Glee slushie and had to have a go at that!!

The inspiring image is a colourful slushie popping over an equally colourful contrasting background.  Here we go...!

Polishes used: Missguided's Teal Splash, Miss Sporty's Hip Pop, Claire's' pink glitter and Bourjois' 1 Seconde pink glitter.

Bourjois 1 Seconde #18 ~ Glitter pics ahoy!

Because we all love drooling over glitter pics, do we not?

Bourjois 1 Seconde polish in #18, a pink glitter, was another birthday present and cost £5.99 from Boots.  In my naïvety I thought that it was a full-cover glitter, and couldn't resist the delicate pink hue.  In fact it gives more of a subtle top-coat sprinkle.  Even though it isn't what I'd originally hoped for, I love it for what it is so here are some piccies!

The base colour is a delicate pink, but as you can see the glitter glows all the colours of the rainbow!

Here are a couple of old photos I have where I used the glitter over Miss Sporty's Hip Pop and 17's Chaperone.  I remember fully loading the special wide brush (which is great, by the way) with glitter so these pics show a generous coating.

And, just now, I decided to add two thin coats over the ring finger of my current mani, blogged about here.  Worringly my camera seems to be having trouble focussing up-close; kinda hoping it'll fix itself...

Rockin' Smash-Up Nails

Hello, and it is a happy birthday to my boyfriend!

Now, my boyfriend is the loveliest most wonderful guy in the world... but he does not give a crap about nail polish.  However, I sometimes like to make believe that he does and choose my polish accordingly.  Today I am doing my mani in his honour!  His favourite colours are black, silver and purple and he tends to prefer (well the closest thing to any form of reaction) my more 'rock' manis, so I went with Models Own Black Smash-Up over Miss Sporty's Metallic Crystal.

Pow!  I used to be a goth so I am really quite happy with my nails today ^_^

This is a coat of Smash-Up over 3 coats of Metallic Crystal; I think I took this photo before applying a top coat, which is why the shatter looks matte.  The Smash-Up polish was a birthday present, and cost £5 at Boots.  I love this polish; it gives really distinct shatters.  It looks great over a glitter as well.  Hang on, I'll dig up the old photo where I wore it over Claire's pink glitter...

And, while I'm at it, here it is over Miss Sporty's Planet Pink (bought when they were 3 for 2 at Superdrug, along with the above Metallic Crystal and a gold):

La Femme Beauty's Lilac Cream and Miss Sporty's Metallic Crystal

Hello there!

Now, as I continue to post it will become increasingly clear that I suffer badly from Can't-Leave-It-Alone Syndrome. I always want to add a little extra something to my manis. Sometimes this is good, sometimes this is very very bad. In case of the latter I will always post separate pics of my lovely polishes before I put them together on my nails!!

Today I'm quite happy with my mixing and matching, however. I have topped La Femme Beauty's Lilac Cream with a layer of Miss Sporty's Metallic Planet. Here we go...

La Femme Beauty is a brand you're most likely to find in discount stores and on market stalls. Indeed, I found this for £1.50 in my local market but I've seen it stocked in loads of places. For a 'cheap' brand the polish actually applies very well: it goes on smoothly and is opaque in 2 coats. The colour is a lilac crème leaning towards a reddish hue.

I bought Miss Sporty's Metallic Crystal at Superdrug while they were doing a 3 for 2 promotion (normally £1.99 each). It is part of their Quick Dry Clubbing Colours range. It is a metallic, futuristic silver. I LOVE this polish! It is very transparent though: the first pic shows 1 coat, the second shows full opacity at 4 coats.

Because of its transparency, I thought Metallic Crystal would make a nice polish for layering - and Lilac Cream seemed a good potential match. Here it is...



Well, I like it personally! You get the space-age shimmery finish of Metallic Crystal with the romantic Lilac Cream glowing through. What do you lovely polishers think?
