Pinspiration ~ Bordered Mani

Hello!

I have for you another Pinterest-inspired mani, this time by the Nailasaurus.  The idea is to paint a border around your nails, and it looks so bold and cool!  Here is the inspiring pin:

And my copycat mani:

I actually ended up using the exact same polishes as Nailasaurus: Barry M's Indigo bordered with Nails Inc's Victoria. Mine isn't as neat, but it still looked great and it's definitely an idea I want to use again with various colour combinations. I think even my fiancé gave me a compliment on this one, which is high praise indeed!

Rimmel ~ 425 My Denim

Hooray! I needed a good, solid blue colour for my polish collection and found this cheap on my market stall. Fab colour, application and finish.

Pinspiration ~ Shattered Hearts

Hello!

Here is another post inspired by a great mani on Pinterest. This is a shattered heart look created using crackle polish.

The (really helpful and inspiring!) tutorial by Kiss My Acetone is here: http://www.doridavis.com/kanye-wants-to-know-how-could-you-be-so-heartless/

And the original pin is here:

And my effort is here!:

I don't own any pink crackles so went for black (Models Own's Smash-Up) over 17's Sweet Kisses. I love this idea, a great inventive way to use crackles!

Pinspiration ~ Glitter Gradient

Hello!

Are any of you guys on Pinterest? I joined recently and have been happily pinning away all things funny, pretty and polishy. The great thing about the site is finding fab mani ideas.  The not-so-great thing is that none of my attempts turn out like the originals!  I created a board for Nail Inspiration so will be posting here with my copycat efforts ~ absolutely all credit goes to the original polishers, click on the first pic in the post for the original pin!

Here is my first Pinterest attempt: a glitter gradient done over a shimmer purple base, then matted.  This is the inspiring pic:

Aaand, here is my copycat mani:

I think my biggest problem is that I didn't use a vibrant enough purple ~ I though OPI's Ink would look great but I needed something lighter, and as a result my mani looks quite sludgy.  The glitter I used, Barry M's Pink Iridescent, was great though!

Shimmering English Rose

Hello!

For this mani I used one of my favourite nail foils, English Rose (top coat doesn't ruin this one as it does the shiny foils). I decided to top it with some sparkle, so added coats of 17's glitter top coat and INM's silver holo glitter. You can see the subtle holo glitter in the first pic, it looked really lovely and added a fairytale shimmer to the foil.

Initialled Mani

Hello!

For this mani I felt all romantic and broke out the water decals! Over Revlon's Cloud (one of my favourite shades of the moment) I placed lily decals on each nail, then on my ring finger I added a golden 'R' to stand for 'Richie', my fiancé's name.

"I'm back!" post ~ Glitter Gal's Dark Purple holo

Hello!

I shall recommence posting with the mani I am wearing right now ~ Glitter Gal's Dark Purple holographic polish!

Very pleasingly, Glitter Gal now have a UK stockist in the form of Sjmwell's online store. The prices are good and, being in the UK, my order arrived super-quickly. I was very naughty and snapped up the Dark Purple holo (although I did resist Red and Light as a Feather, so positively angelic!).

The pics below show 2 coats ~ it is daytime but I put the flash on my camera to show the rainbow holo goodness :-)

I LOVE this polish, even more than I thought I would. The colour itself is rich and beautiful, and as you can see the holo effect is strong and stunning. Truly a magical polish and a very happy Lisa!!!

Hugs,

Lisa xx

Hello!

Firstly, I am so sorry for the long break from posting!  I've had a few life stresses on top of the usual problems - involving hospital tests, counselling and grappling with Student Loans (still waiting for resolution on that one) - and it's thrown my posting cycle off.  But I will be adding mani pics today!!

Also, a diet update ~ I have lost 8lb so far and dropped more than 1 BMI point!  It's a slow road but I am very happy!

Thanks so much for reading my blog, I really do appreciate it :-)

A little weight loss update...

...and more polish pics coming soon, I promise!

This is just a little post to say that I lost 1lb this week, which I am actually really pleased about since I caved and ordered a takeaway on Tuesday.  Pizza, kebab, chips... eek.  I didn't even enjoy it that much and felt horrible afterwards, so there's a lesson learnt.  Here's hoping I stick to the diet from now on and continue to lose weight!

Thank you for reading,

NOTD: Fantasy Fire!

:-D

Yes, I know, we've seen it before, but I wore it again and had to take piccies! It never ceases to enchant me, the many facets of this polish that come out in different lights. Here I wore it alone in 4 coats; not the most economical but it gives the effect I like best!

17 ~ Mellow Yellow

Hello!

Today I am showing you Mellow Yellow, one of the new 17 Spring polishes. It is a bold sunshine yellow, solid but with a shimmer to it. A very brave buy I think! Here are 3 coats:

I actually really quite like it. Yellow seems to me a bit of an 'iffy' colour to put on your nails, but it looks nice against my pale skin and isn't an offensive shade at all. I might wait for a really sunny day (fat chance in North East England!) and rock this polish. What do you think?

Flowery Pastel Mani

Hello!

After yesterday's polish-buying binge I was spoilt for choice as for which colour to use first! I settled on Revlon's Cloud: the softest, grey-blue toned, cloudiest of lilacs, which I have been lusting after for ages and finally bought for an amazing £1 at Poundland! I painted 3 coats and then added some of my favourite flower stickers from Nail Delights to my usual accent nails for an extra Spring touch.

I can't wait to use Cloud in a matte flakie mani also!

I really, really never meant for this to happen...

...

...I fainted, OK?!  I had to have tests done at the hospital, I fainted during them, and afterwards, instead of following Mr Doctor's advice and getting a taxi straight home to rest up, I thought "Ooh, I need some fruit, and I'll have a look around the shops while I'm at it!".

So in my giddy state I took advantage of Boot's '2 Revlons for £10' and '£1 off 2 Barry M polishes' offers, my cheapy market stall, and Poundland (They had some really good Revlons in there for a quid!  Key word: 'had'.  I have them now.).

Forgive me ô God of Overdrafts, I was poorly.

17 ~ Royal Rose

Hello!

Royal Rose is another '3 for 2' 17 buy.  Does anyone know if this polish is new?  I just don't understand why I wouldn't have bought it before now!

This pics below show 3 coats of Royal Rose.  It is a soft, traditional blushing colour and it really is quite lovely!

17 ~ Mint Choc Chip

Diet Update ~ Today was weigh-in day and I lost 2lb this week, which is the amount I'd hoped for!  So in these first two weeks I have lost 5lb in total and am officially out of the 'obese' BMI category, which was my first short-term goal.  The longer-term goal is not to reach a specific weight, but rather to just be a healthier size.  Feeling positive!

Today I will show you a polish I bought in Boots' 3 for 2 deal on 17 cosmetics.  Mint Choc Chip is a bold pastel crème which is on the border between green and blue.  I was previously put off from buying this polish for fear that it would turn out to be like Bolt From the Blue ~ a horribly gloopy, unwearable polish ~ so I was so happy when the formula went on perfectly!  Below are 3 coats, and in the final pic I added some flower stickers ^_^

Good polish, good weight loss... overall I am a happy girl!

Out-the-door Mani

For this mani I was in a real rush to get out the door! Only time for one coat of polish, no base coat, no top coat (and no time to hold the camera steady it would seem!). So, I chose Glitter Gal's lovely holo Frappe and went out with the most subtle of shimmers on my nails!

Vroooooooom!

Hugs,

Lisa xx
