Rainbow Week ~ Pink

Hello!

This is the final day of Rainbow Week! It has been really helpful in getting me back to blogging, it's hard when your mood, energy and motivation are so low. I'll try to continue after today; I've been thinking of showcasing manis using my new BM stamping plates :-)

Today is Pink Day! Again I have lots of lovely pinks, but there was only one choice as a favourite: the one I have 3 bottles of! It's 17's Sweet Kisses, a gorgeous vintage pastel pink. Here it is:

Love, love, love!

Nails Inc. ~ Holly Place

Hello!

Today I am showing you a polish I got as part of an amazing one-day deal ~ £15 for 5 full-size Nails Inc. polishes, beautiful ones at that! Holly Place is an ultra fine glitter. Personally I would describe the colour as silver with a shimmer that shifts between pink and champagne depending on the light. It applied beautifully and was opaque in 2 coats! Out of all the Nails Inc polishes I own, this one has impressed me the most in terms of actual polish quality. Here it is, 2 coats with top coat:

Purdy, purdy, purdy. It gives your nails unmistakeable glitter and wow factor, without blinding unsuspecting "Muggles"!

Rainbow Week ~ Purple

Hello!

Today is Purple Day! This one was hard as I have so many purples to choose from. I am a sucker for pastel purples, and the one I settled on is really beautiful - the light, creamy, dreamy, blue-tinted Revlon's Cloud. Here it is:

And what's better, I found this in Poundland (the UK equivalent of a dollar store)! Hooray for beautiful bargains.

Rainbow Week ~ Blue

Hello!

Today is "blue" day of Rainbow Week, and my choice is Stand Back! by Boots No7. It is the brightest, richest, most cheerful blue ever! And it's great for stamping too as it's pigment-rich. I have all but used up my bottle and will be rushing out to buy a new one when the next Boots vouchers come out ^_^

Here are 2 coats:

...and look what came in the post...

ERMAHGURD!

The Sweets Way polish from the Nail Inc. Sprinkles collection is one I really, really wanted. The rest? 5 for £15. That is not a misprint. And they are beautiful polishes, I have no idea why they felt the need to sell them off so cheaply. Sorry for the poor quality pic, apart from the slightly duochrome caramelly foil in the bottom centre they are extremely fine glitters, almost molten. I can't wait to try them! For the meantime I had to choose Sweets Way as a belated birthday manicure; what polish could be more fitting? Here it is in 3 coats:

Rainbow Week ~ Green

Hello and welcome to day Green of Rainbow Week!

The polish I chose is Mint Choc Chip by 17. It is such a lovely, rich, creamy colour and applies beautifully!

So minty beautiful ^_^

I'll be back with a post about something which came in the post today, and then tomorrow I'll be showing my favourite blue polish!

Lisa's Birthday Haul :-)

Hello!

As promised, here is a pic of all my birthday presents! I feel very lucky :)

I've used the Skin Therapy hand and nail cream twice already and it's really good! It makes my skin feel so soft.

The Bundle Monster stamping plates actually arrived on my birthday, so it was great luck and a lovely surprise. I have the BM01-25 set already, and it does have various designs that I love using, but this new set has SO MANY good ones. I don't even know where to start because it has so many I want to use!

My mam picked out the two Maybelline polishes for me ^_^ I'm going to try out the green one today.

The rest of the polishes I picked out myself! There's a blood red Essie, one of the new colour-changing Barry M's and their promotional retro blue polish. The MeMeMe polishes were a Groupon deal (£18 for £45 worth of products, you can't go far wrong there) and I used the opportunity to pick some colours that I don't already have in my collection.

Rainbow Week post coming up soon, today is green!

Rainbow Week ~ Yellow

Hello!

Firstly, today is my birthday :) It's a day of mixed feelings as it's hard to get through with my depression being so bad, but I did get some lovely presents including lots of nail polishes! I will post a pic of them later.

And here is my choice for my favourite Yellow polish... I would have went for a creme, but having to apply a ton of coats for an even colour makes it rank a little lower! So instead I chose 17's Mellow Yellow, a bright sunny shimmer. Here are 3 coats:

Like buttercups!

I also noticed yesterday that 4 of my 7 rainbow favourites are by Boots 17! A favourite brand seems to have emerged...

Rainbow Week ~ Orange

Hello!

Today is Orange day of the Rainbow Week challenge! Now, orange is another of the woefully underrepresented colours in my collection, and in my choice I almost wimped out and went for a pretty-yet-understated peach... but I knew really that this is my favourite orange! It's called 'WOW Factor', and it was part of a Strictly Come Dancing themed polish gift set that my parents gave me for Christmas (lucky me!). It's a bright, bright, bright orange and one I would prefer to wear on short nails so it's not too much... but yes, this polish is one of my guilty loves :-) Here are 3 coats:

Omgsobright.

Just as an aside, it is my birthday tomorrow! I picked out a load of polishes for my parents to get me (again, lucky me!) as well as the new Bundle Monster plates ~ hopefully they will arrive in time today or tomorrow! So, as well as my favourite Yellow polish, I'll try to add a pic of all my presents :-)

Rainbow Week ~ Red

Hello!

This is the first post of Rainbow Week, featuring a red polish. This challenge has made me realise that the left end of the colour spectrum is really quite underrepresented in my polish collection (it explodes around the blues, purples and pinks!). I only have a couple of reds, but chose 17's fire-engine Risky Red. This was actually part of a free gift set around Christmas time and it really is good! Lovely bright colour and applies like a dream. Here are two coats:

Bright bright bright :-)

Update and a Mani!

Hello!

In my last blog post I explained that I have been dealing with a bad period of depression, which is why I haven't been posting new manis. Thank you so much to the people who commented wishing me well! I have just started taking a new antidepressant, which will take a few weeks to start working. My university has e-mailed me to let me know that I can get a 3rd class Honours degree provided I pass my upcoming essays. It is a shame that I can't obtain a higher classification but I am proud of what I have achieved despite my ongoing problems, and plan to do the very best I can with the essays.

With regards to nail polish, the lovely Bec from Lacquer Dreams has come up with the idea of a rainbow challenge ~ posting your favourite polish of each colour of the rainbow over 7 days! The challenge starts on Sunday and I thought this would be the perfect way to ease myself back into blogging. I look forward to participating and seeing everyone else's favourites!

And for now, I can happily show you what is currently on my nails: some of my favourite flower stickers placed as accents over 17's Woo Me :-)

Lots of hugs,

Lisa xx

Happy Nails Blog Update

Hello!

I haven't made a blog post in a while and just wanted to explain why. I have lots of problems with depression and anxiety, and for a while I've been feeling full-on ill. My mood has been all over the place, mostly rock-bottom, since I stopped taking antidepressants in April. An influx of stress in my life hasn't helped either! I'm being open about this as I think it's a good thing to do so with mental health issues.  I am actively getting help and am usually positive about the future :-)

I have still been painting my nails and posting quick photos here and there using Instagram, but I haven't been up to writing regular blog posts. Hopefully this will change soon and I'll get back to a regular posting schedule. I have a large backlog of manis to post about!

Hugs,

Lisa xx
